Knowing My Place

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?” Psalm 8

My professor pointed out in class something we should all consider. God has no debt to us. He has no obligation to forgive an unrepentant sinner, No obligation to commit himself to covenants and promises of blessings, and yet he does. I realized he has no obligation to be patient with a stubborn prideful selfish person. He has no obligation to keep reaching out to us and demonstrating his love. He has no obligation to us, he owes us nothing and we owe him everything. And yet he does reach out to me and you I confess I/we are so often filled with ourselves. We occupy ourselves with our fears and worries and are entangled by small things and little problems. Tozer said … Compared to him everything around us shrinks in stature and significance. It is all little business compared to him.- little churches with little preachers, little authors and little editors, little singers and little musicians, little deacons and little officers, little educators and little cities and little men and little cities and little things
